Our Story.
Dan — The Man Behind the Lens
I’m Dan: laid-back, liberal, and the creative force behind Love Adventure. Having lived in North Wales nearly all my life, it’s no surprise that the dramatic landscapes around me sparked a love for photography over 20 years ago. The mountains, forests, and coastlines were my first inspirations—and they still play a huge role in my work today.
Alongside my photography, I have a degree in Marine Biology from Bangor University, graduating in 2009. But in 2013, I made the leap and turned my lifelong passion for photography into a full-time career. Since then, I’ve dedicated myself to capturing bold, authentic, and adventurous imagery that tells a real story—whether that’s a windswept wedding in the hills, a commercial brand shoot, or an epic expedition in the wild.
For me, photography has always been about more than just the image—it’s about connection, curiosity, and creating something that lasts.
What we do
We capture weddings, elopements, and adventures across the UK and internationally. It’s always an honour to be part of such special occasions, documenting moments with fun, relaxed coverage and our signature adventurous storytelling style.
We don’t follow a rigid shot list or standard approach. Whether we’re shooting a wedding, a landscape, or a brand campaign, the focus is on honest storytelling and capturing what’s real. We want the people we work with to feel relaxed, have fun, and enjoy the moment—because that’s when the magic happens.
While weddings and elopements are a huge part of what we do, our work is equally split with commercial photography. We work closely with organisations such as Visit Wales, Natural Resources Wales, BBC Countryfile, and Arc’teryx Outdoor Clothing. Our landscape, event, and product imagery has been featured by Canon, National Geographic, the World Rally Championship (WRC), Red Bull, Visit Britain, and Visit Wales. You’ll also find our work regularly published in leading titles like TGO (The Great Outdoors) Magazine.
Behind the scenes, my wife Gemma plays a vital role, keeping everything running smoothly. She manages our communications, admin, and social media, making sure everything stays organised and allowing me to stay focused behind the lens.
We’re proud to work with such a diverse range of clients, gaining experience across many different environments, weather conditions, and unexpected challenges—always ready to adapt and deliver.

We booked Dan for our outdoor elopment ceremony in Dolgellau. We were really happy with all the services he provided from the initial consultation, preparation call and the day itself! Dan really put us at ease during the day and made us feel really comfortable during the day. It was a really enjoyable experience, even for people who don't particularly like being in front of the camera. We got the initial photos the next day after the wedding and the turnaround for the rest of the photos was really quick. We were over the moon with how the pictures looked and couldn't have asked for much more! We really liked how well Dan worked with our celebrant, Alex the Snowdonia celebrant who we booked together. We absolutely loved our adventure photography experience with Dan. We secretly got married on 23rd April, with just our makeup artist, Dan as our witness, and a small hotel ceremony in Betws-y-Coed at 11:30am. Before the wedding, Gemma — Dan’s wife — handled all the email communication around the booking and was so lovely and helpful throughout. After the ceremony, Dan drove us to Harlech Castle and Barmouth Beach for photos — and he captured the whole day perfectly. One thing we were worried about beforehand was that it might feel like a long photoshoot with lots of awkward posing, but it honestly just felt like spending the day with a friend. Dan made everything feel so relaxed and natural, and there was no rush to the day at all, which made everything even more enjoyable. We had such an easy laugh together the whole time. We even stopped off at the pub for a beer/gin, and went to the chippy in our wedding outfits, which made for some brilliant memories. We had some great discussions around music, holidays and adventures throughout the day too, which just showed how easy Dan is to get along with We also absolutely loved the wooden personalised presentation box the prints and personalised USB came in from Dan & Gemma — such a great touch and a really special keepsake from the day. We couldn’t recommend Love Adventure Photography highly enough — the photos are incredible - Dan captured the atmosphere and emotion of the day so perfectly.
From the moment we met at Merlin’s Pool, Love Adventure Photography made the whole experience feel relaxed, natural and genuinely magical 🌿📸 They captured our elopement so beautifully, from the windswept coastal moments to the tiny little looks and laughs we didn’t even realise were happening. Nothing felt forced or awkward, it honestly just felt like an adventure together while someone quietly turned it into art. The photos completely blew us away. Every image feels full of emotion and tells the story of our day perfectly. Looking through them takes us straight back to standing on the cliffs together with the sea crashing below us and that wild Wales weather doing its dramatic thing 🌊 If you’re thinking about an elopement in Wales, especially somewhere as special as Merlin’s Pool, we honestly couldn’t recommend Love Adventure Photography more highly. Amazing! Having followed Dan’s work for a while, we had no doubt over his quality and knew we would have some excellent photos to remember our wedding. What we hadn’t quite factored in was how important it was to have someone who made this whole process so easy for us. From our first contact to the last snap, Dan’s supportive and considerate tone of “this is your day” meant there was never a sense of stress and certainly no pressure felt. We received countless comments and compliments from our guests saying how wonderful Dan was and this reflected in some wonderful shots of our family and friends on the day. Booking Dan for our wedding was one of the easiest and best decisions that we made, and we don’t have enough words to say how glad we are that he was able to capture our day.
Love Adventure Photography was worth every single penny and so much more! They went above and beyond to capture our wedding day and we couldn't be happier with the results! They were one of the first vendors that we booked for our wedding and they made the whole booking process so simple and made us feel like nothing was to much to ask, we will be recommending you to everyone! When Dan arrived early to the venue on the wedding day (during Storm Amy), he was so friendly and brought a calming vibe to the day! The weather was not going to worry him in the slightest! Dan put both of us at ease and got some amazing photos of us getting ready, the ceremony and was so excited by the backdrop of stormy clouds and rain bursts resulting in some really dramatic, picturesque photos! (We've never looked so good, so thank you for that!) His joy and excitement was contagious, he made us all laugh and we were more than happy to 'experiment' with his photographic creativity. When our photographs arrived in our personalised box, we were so happy with the results and spent a lovely evening reliving our wedding and seeing beautifully captured moments that we can enjoy time and time again. We couldn't be any happier with having chosen Dan to be our elopement photographer. He was so personable, funny, kind, and helpful. He made the experience more than comfortable on our big day. Having no idea what we really wanted, Dan was able to (seemingly with ease) capture us at our best. You can really tell he loves what he does. His passion for not only photography but also making sure we had a stress free, fun, and memorable experience was definitely noticed and well appreciated by us. Well… where do I even start! Dan’s eye for detail and talent are second to none. His wedding photography, completely speaks for itself. When choosing a wedding photographer, I wanted to also ensure that my husband would also feel comfortable in front of the camera. Dan was the perfect energy, he looked after us all day, giving us helpful tips, knowing when we needed a break from the crowds and having such a good laugh/banter throughout our photos. Now, the adventure photos… these visually are utterly incredible, we couldn’t have asked for better. But also, we have both said this was our favourite part of the day. Getting away from the crowds for an adventure was the perfect break, full of laughs and comedic moments. Thank you for the memories, support and for capuring our day so beautifully!
Could not recommend Love Adventure photography enough! We were both nervous about being in a public setting, being infront of the camera and just posing in general! Dan just made everything so easy, there was no pressure no awkward posing and everything was just easy, He's very talented and very down to earth. The photos we have received are everything we wanted and more! He's captured us naturally and nothing looks forced! We cannot wait to see the final gallery now!
We couldn’t be happier with our experience with Love Adventure Photography! We both felt very awkward about having our photos taken, but from the start we felt completely at ease. On the day Dan blended in so naturally while capturing every special moment perfectly. At one point he was so well blended in that I started looking for him and he was standing right next to me 😂 The photos are absolutely stunning — they brought out all the best aspects of the day and we’ll treasure them forever. The presentation box and prints were a lovely touch and the online gallery makes it easy to share the photos with everyone too. Dan is both incredibly talented but also genuinely lovely too, and we’re so grateful he was part of our day. Highly recommended to anyone looking for beautiful, heartfelt photography!
We booked Love Adventure Photography after following him (Dan) on insta for years. We both knew we wanted Dan to capture our special day. He was absolutely brilliant - from putting us at ease in the morning to making us laugh during the shoot after the wedding. The photos are absolutely incredible - we can’t actually believe that he has sent us 700+ photos and we love them all.
