Stuart and Miguel, Rochdale Town Hall, Manchester
Do you believe in fate? My wife (who was then my fiancée) were on a city break in Barcelona with some friends and we ended up just the two of us eating late one evening at a restaurant beneath the hotel. Sat next to us that evening were Stuart and Miguel, we got chatting, had a lovely evening and made Facebook friends and that was that, or so we thought. We were actually in Maderia on our honeymoon when we got the message asking if we would like to be their wedding photographers and we couldn’t have been more delighted.
The day started with Miguel and some of his Spanish family who had arrived the previous evening at their home in Manchester. We arrived just as they were all tucking into a big hearty breakfast, the room was electric with Spanish energy and language. I love a good opportunity to speak a bit of Spanish, it isn’t amazing but I can get by and after a few laughs at my attempts of speaking the lingo, we were off to a great start. Thankfully Miguel and his niece spoke excellent English and could translate any words I was struggling with.
The venue, who knew Rochdale had such a spectacular wedding venue! The fabulous Grade One Victorian Gothic town hall is apparently renowned worldwide for its unique architecture and a very popular wedding venue. With epic high ceilings, a huge staircase and adjacent landscaped gardens, we instantly knew it was going to be a great day. The weather had forecast rain all day, but in a venue like this, we had ample options if we had to stay indoors. However the sun decided to make a grand appearance just in time for the group and couple photos to be done outside, ensuring we could make full use of the site in all its glory.
We had such a fun day and it was truly a pleasure to be part of. We will definitely be keeping in touch with these two, there was even talk of some visits to Malaga when they finally decide to make the move out there.
