Couple descending Cader Idris ridge by bike after mountaintop elopement

Epic North Wales Elopement | Cader Idris

An unforgettable mountain elopement adventure in Snowdonia

Hold on to your horses… or in this case, mountain bikes.

As a North Wales Elopement Photographer, I’ve witnessed some incredible love stories,  but Jo and Terry’s Cader Idris elopement truly raised the bar. When they asked me to capture their adventure wedding on bikes, riding one of my favourite mountains in Snowdonia National Park, I knew we were about to create something unforgettable.

These two didn’t just hike to their elopement spot — they mountain biked to the summit of Cader Idris, in full wedding attire. Honestly, how frickin’ cool is that?

A Love Story Built for Adventure

Jo and Terry are the kind of couple that don’t just go on adventures, they live them. When it came to planning their wedding day, a traditional venue wasn’t going to cut it. Instead, they set their sights on an intimate mountain elopement in North Wales, combining their commitment for each other and their shared passion for biking and the outdoors.

If you’re searching for a North Wales Wedding Photographer who specialises in wild elopements, this is exactly the kind of story that fuels my soul.

The Day They Said “I Do” | Mountain Elopement on Cader Idris

 The Ride Up

We started at the foot of Cader Idris, mountain bikes prepped and the trail ahead calling. The climb is tough — steep, rocky, relentless — but Jo and Terry handled it with so much grit and joy. Yes, they did the whole thing in their wedding outfits. Icons.

The Ceremony

Near the summit, in a quiet spot with views rolling for miles, they exchanged vows in a deeply personal and moving ceremony curated and led by Alex – the Snowdonia Celebrant. It was emotional, windswept, and pure magic — the kind of moment you can’t replicate in a traditional setting.

Prosecco, Cake & Clouds

After the ceremony, we celebrated with mountain-top Prosecco and cake. Between the clouds, the views, and the sheer joy in the air, it felt like we were the only people in the world.

The Descent

And then came the descent. Fast, free, a little wild — just like the couple. Riding back down Cader Idris in golden evening light, Jo and Terry couldn’t stop smiling, and neither could I.
